A pole panorama is essentially the same as the other panoramas I've made and posted here, except they are on top of, well, a pole! In this case, my monopod held above my head.
Naturally, when the camera's that far away, it's pretty hard to press the shutter, so you have to use the self-timer. Of course since a panorama takes six shots, you have to lower the pole, press the shutter and get the pole back in the exact same place and steady before the shutter fires, and repeat the process, rotating the camera each time, till it's done.
Obviously this is not easy, especially when I'm holding the camera out over an overhang, like a cliff or balcony. Not to mention the alignment between shots - which is important for taking panoramas - is very diffucilt to keep constant.
Well that's a whole lot easier now that I have a wireless shutter remote! I did a quick test with a high-angle panorama on our porch, wow is it a whole lot easier! Alignment is still not perfect (see the gutter), but im sure it's something I could get better at with practice or a more appropriate pole.
