Redesign

If you're visiting my blog around the date of this post, then you'll probably notice there a few things broken. I'm rebuilding my http://neil.creek.name site around a new design, and I'm trying to convert the blog template to match the design. I've got it largely working, at least for the front page, but there are some visual issues to be fixed, and some larger problems with the archived posts. It may take a little while to figure it out, so I thank you for your patience in the meantime.

Follow up report

Feeling MUCH better! :)

The 24 hour bug passed in almost exactly 24 hours :) Which is a big relief becuause it meant that I could go on the 5 hour snorkelling tour with everyone :) It was pretty amazing. The conditions weren't great, it was extremely windy, and thus choppy and cold. The seats were a bit uncomfortable and we kept getting splashed by bow-waves. BUT the snorkelling was awesome. It was quite cold, but we both had wetsuits. The corals were incredible, huge colonies, very complex growth structures, not brilliant colours in general, but there were occational colonies which were vividly coloured. There were thousands of brightly coloured fish of all kinds, and they were surprizingly approachable, letting you get within a couple of meters of them before swimming away.

Our friends Maria and Antanas went swimming with a manta ray, for 20 mins or so, and they described it as an awesome experience. The ray was gigantic, 5-4 meters in wingspan, and was accompanied by dozens of smaller fish "riding" its back. Occationally the ray would do a complete roll so they could see his underside, mouth and gills. It was quite a challenge to keep up with him though, since he was swimming with a decent pace into a current and into the wind. Nomi and I weren't strong enough swimmers to try it, but Antanas took several photos with our underwater disposable camera. I look forward to seeing them!

Today is really the last day of our holiday. Tomorrow begins three days of tavelling hell. Over 650kms driving tomorrow, over 550kms the day after, then a four hour flight home. Oh well, I guess there is a price to be paid for a good holiday :)

Time to go now. I probably won't get another chance to post till I return home, and there won't really be anything to talk about anyway :)

Seeyas later!

Reporting from WA

Hello! Finally I've managed to find a net cafe that will let me upload some photos. If you're just here to look at the pretty pictures, you can see a selection of photos Nomi and I have taken so far at this link:

http://neilcreek.gravitoncity.com/gallery/v/holidays/wa/

It's been a good holiday in many ways, but rough in many others. I've been fighing a bad cold the whole time, although that's almost gone now. But now I've caught some kind of extremely uncomfortable stomach bug. Foolishly, in the middle of the night last night, I drank a mouthful of untreated, bug infested bore water, rather than the filtered water. Doh... I was half asleep okay? I'm paying for it now though...

Anyway, aside from that, and the incredibly long drives, it's been a great holiday so far. Lots of beautiful landscapes, billions of gorgeous wildflowers growing everywhere, adorable dolphins that swim right up to you at Monkey Mia. And now we've just arrived at Ningaloo, and soon we'll be checking out the coral reef here. I don't know how much I'll be able to do, but I'm assured I'll be feeling better in 24 hours.

I'm not really feeling up to typing much more now, so I'll say goodbye. I might be feeling better soon, and make another post tomorrow. If not, you probably won't hear from me again till we get home. If you have anything to say to this post or the pictures, please leave a comment below, as we won't be checking email.

Seeyas!

Photos sold!

I'm buzzed at the moment!!

With the help of my beautiful and hardworking wife, I've just learned that I have sold three images to Tasmania Tourism. The photos were taken on our holiday there just over a year ago. There's also the possibility that they'll want to buy more of the photos I took, since they chose the three from only ten that were sent to them.

This is one of the pics that they bought:

You can see the other two at these links:

Hopefully there will be more of the same to come in the near future :)

My wishlist!

I love giving gifts to friends, and seeing them enjoy opening their birthday present. I don't always like trying to figure out exactly what to get. Sometimes it's hard to come up with the idea, sometimes it's hard to know if the choice is the right one. Usually I end up asking someone who knows them really well, like their partner. I've been asked for advice on gifts for my wife many times.

Well I've decided to make it easy for everyone else when chosing gifts for me, and made an online wishlist!! The Froogle (by Google) wishlist thingie was an option in my blogger profile, so I thought I'd give it a go. One problem is that all of the stores are in the US, but if people think early enough, they might even want to try ordering something :) Alternatively, the list can act as a source of inspiration of the kind of thing I like.

If you want to take a look at it, click on the title of this post.

I know it might seem like wishful thinking, and maybe a bit presumptuous, but frankly I wish all my friends would do it :) It solves a problem, and since it's anonymous for anyone browsing it's not putting any pressure on anyone to actually do anything about it! Also it's a handy reminder to me what I might want to buy should I ever come into a bit of spare cash hehe.

Whatdoya reckon?

I'm gonna give this a go again :)

I've decided that I'd like to practice my writing skills more often, and since it's likely to be a lot of random thoughts and experiments, I figured a blog is as good a place as any to do that. I also want to FINALLY put something at the http://neil.creek.name address which points to all my other bits and pieces, so rather than giving folks the (longer) address to my gallery, I can simply give them this address and tell them to click on the gallery link on the right.

I have no idea what will end up here, or how regularly I'll add stuff, but I want to try and make it at least interesting enough to make it worthwhile reading if you happen to stop by. :)

Please feel free to leave comments on any entries that you'd like to.

See you in later entries!
