It's time for a change.

This entry is about the game Star Wars Galaxies. If you know nothing about it, you can probably ignore the rest.

I'm just not playing SWG any more. The motivation to fire up the game hasn't been there for many months. I've been playing since launch, and I was watching the development of the game for almost as long before then. I've had great times, and many awesome memories. I've also made some incredible friendships, which I'm truly grateful for. I consider many of my friends there some of my favourite people online.

But I feel like I'm deluding myself. This game has never been in a finished state. There were major problems since day one, and almost all work done on the game since then has been trying to fix a broken game. I'm tied of being told "great things are coming" and "these problems will all be fixed with the next upgrade". Well I've lived through CUs and NGEs and all kinds of fixes, and yet the game is still being fixed. Other MMOs, many of which haven't even existed as long as SWG, are pushing out new content and expansions while SWG is building dubious "fixes".

So, when this month's subscription runs out in about 25 days, I'm going to suspend my account. I'll keep watching the SOE forums to see if there's anything that tempts me back, and of course I'll keep coming here. I consider CFA to be bigger than just SWG. No reason it can't be a game-spanning guild/group. I'm actually planning to give EVE a try, which is where Golgy is now playing.

I'm going to put all my cash into my houses to keep them going, and I'll leave all of my stuff where it is, in the event I return one day.

Why now? After putting up with SWG for 3 years, what was the last straw? Four letters: AT-RT. Why on earth should noobs get an awesome vehicle like that, while vets get NOTHING. That to me just shows SOE's attitude to their valuable long-term players. They don't care. After paying them for three years they should be kissing my butt, not kicking it.

Man I'm lazy. I can't even keep a blog up to date. Maybe a vblog will be easier! Click below to see my first entry :)

I was made for lovin' you baby.

Last night was awesome! Here's an email Nomi sent to my folks describing the evening:

Hi everyone,

We went to Grug's 30th last night. It was a 70s theme. I went as Princess Leia. I hired my outfit, but made the "bread roll" hair buns. Well the baker actually made the buns especially for me - I just painted them! It was rather funny. I went to the bakery to get 2 knot rolls that looked similar. I told the girl what they were for and the baker overheard the conversation and said "I'll make you some". So on arriving the next morning to pick them up, I was presented with a tray of 12 Princess Leah knot rolls. He said "take your pick - I made a few different styles". How hilarious was that. They still only charged me 55¢ each, so I was happy!

Neil went as Ace Frehley from KISS. Neil of course does not do things by halves when it comes to costumes. He made his whole outfit, apart from the hiring the wig and boots. This involved approximately 10 metres of garden hose, 12 metres of vinyl tubing, 7 tubes of super glue, 1 can of silver paint and silver electrical tape. He was also wearing one of my old black tops and a pair of women's black leggins. The make-up was also a big part of the costume, which I'm proud to say that I did. It took about an hour to do and we arrived more than an hour late to the party. Needless to say, he was a real hit and got into the "rocker" mode just a bit too easily. I think he should have been on stage!

The things we do for a laugh!

Have a look at the photos - there are 3 pages of them.
